Karen Gillan is the former Doctor Who companion who plays Nebula, “daughter” of Thanos, in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy.
During a panel at the Heroes & Villains Fan Fest this past weekend in San Jose, Gllan spoke about her experience with the first Guardians of the Galaxy, and her excitement for the sequel.
“I’ve read the script,” Gillan said. “I haven’t talked to anyone about it, which is, frankly, really frustrating, because I want to talk to everyone about it, but I can’t. I just know it’s going to be really brilliant, and I feel like everyone is going to like it.”
Gillan’s Nebula clearly has some unfinished business with her “sister” and Guardian of the Galaxy Gamora (played by Zoe Saldana). This a thread that will likely be picked up in Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 2.
As she mentions later in the panel, she’s also unsure of how the sequel will handle her hair, having only just regrown after she shaved it off for the first film.
Karen has written and directed her second short movie, entitled “Conventional”, which is being shown online as part of Fun-Size Horror: Volume Two. I have added screencaptures from this short 9-minute movie – I highly suggest checking it out, it makes for dark viewing but is exceptional!
Conventional centers on fictional B-movie scream queen Rachel Milligan and her complicated relationship with Axe Wound 2, the movie that made her (temporarily) famous. But really though, Conventional is about the fickle nature of fame. Milligan sports painfully bloated collagen-infused lips curled into a fake smile and a pair of eyes that say “Kill me now.” The only people who still seem interested in her are those who cosplay as her fictional slasher from Axe Wound 2, Stu Mac. Her fans love seeing her afraid, and she just loves being seen at all.

You may have noticed a number of images missing from the gallery – Karen Gillan Fan is now CANDID FREE. We will no longer be posting candid photography of Karen out and about in her private life, and on-set images from her professional life will be limited to official images.
Last night Karen made an appearance at the AFI Festival Closing Night Gala, which premiered “The Big Short” in which Karen appears. She looked stunning, and over 30 images have been added to the gallery with hopefully more to follow shortly!
Although little has been known about Karen’s character in the film so far, a review by Variety describes her as a “drunken SEC agent throwing herself at anyone with a Goldman Sachs business card“. Sounds interesting!
An additional 70 HQ images images have been added, taking the total to 104!

From directing her first short film, Coward, based on the story of two characters who bonded over a murder, it seems actress and director, Karen Gillan, can’t get enough of the horror genre.
Her new second short film, Conventional, follows the story of a leading lady’s fall from stardom, with Gillan starring as Rachel Milligan and Lara Sebastian as her new rival.
Coward, which stars iZombie’s Rose McIver, has been screening at festivals such as Etheria Film Night in Los Angeles, which celebrates women in genre films.
And you can catch Conventional online too as it’s currently being shown as part of Fun-Size Horror: Volume Two for Halloween.
The Scottish actress is best known for playing Amy Pond in Doctor Who but also featured in the films Not Another Happy Ending, Oculus and Guardians of the Galaxy.
I’ve been busy today adding lots of HQ images that we were missing, including images from Karen’s appearance at the Jameson Empire Awards from back in March as well as missing Selfie promotional images!
